The 13th North American Basic Income Guarantee Congress
BIEN Congress 2014 will be preceded by a pre-conference day on 26th June 2014 for the 13th North-America Basic Income Guarantee (NABIG) Congress, a joint meeting of the Basic Income Canada Network and the U.S. Basic Income Guarantee Network. The NABIG Day will focus on strategies to activate and implement a basic income policy in Canadian and United States jurisdictions.
This workshop will take place at the same venue as the BIEN Congress: New Chancellor Day Hall, McGill University, Montreal. Registered participants to BIEN Congress 2014 are welcome to attend the NABIG Day sessions.

Canada has started a campaign to bring a Basic Income to Canada. Initiated by Rob Rainer and highly influenced by the ideas of Chandra Pasma, the campaign will be led by Kelly Ernst in the coming months. This campaign, the efforts outlined, and future plans will be described.

This workshop will outline the past work of the Basic Income Canada Network / Réseau Canadien pour Le revenue garanti. It will then walk participants through a visioning process to determine what the vision of the network should be, the scope of the network, what key objectives the network should try to achieve, and the impact it hopes to make. The workshop is highly interactive and requires the full attention and participation of those who attend. Results from the workshop will be presented to the BICN board for their consideration and possible adoption.

The US Basic Income Guarantee Network will host an open meeting for current and prospective members of the US network. The open meeting will include a discussion of current developments in the US and prospects for basic income to gather more support in the US. The open meeting will be followed by an organizational meeting of those interested in active participation in the network.
